The JewishGen Online Worldwide Burial Registry (JOWBR) has been updated with some 104,500 new records and 20,700 new photos.
JOWBR has added 118 new cemeteries, and updates/additions to 99 more cemeteries in 15 countries. The database now includes more than 1.3 million records from more than 2,500 cemeteries (or sections) in 45 countries.
Two new partnerships will add data from the Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives (AJA, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Jewish Cemetery Restoration Project (JCRP).
— At AJA, volunteers will help create searchable databases from paper holdings at the archives for inclusion in JOWBR.
— The JCRP, which restores abandoned Jewish cemeteries in the US, will be adding burial records from those sites to JOWBR. Readers who may know of such abandoned sites, should contact Harley Felstein.
